Step Enterprise is the business behind the Step portfolio of student and graduate placement programmes and is recognised as the UK’s leading independent provider of quality placements and internships for students and recent graduates.

We are looking for another experienced account manager with a strong interest in graduate recruitment and employability to join our team in our Nottingham Office.

The role objectives

Excellence in account management is at the heart of this role.  You will apply your 360 degree recruitment expertise to the niche but rapidly expanding entry level graduate skills market, to deliver internship and graduate recruitment services and sales targets.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a full 360 degree recruitment service;
  • support our existing client base by with our enhanced talent solutions;
  • research and identify new business opportunities for Step services;
  • meeting with new and existing clients, including universities
  • contributing to the writing of proposals and tenders
  • contributing to the Step team’s research, analysis and marketing activities
  • contributing to the development of graduate attraction and recruitment strategies for strategic partner clients,
  • supporting campus engagement activities and graduate talent screening and selection programmes.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

You will have proven experience working in a recruitment business development role and ideally have worked within higher education and/or have significant knowledge of graduate skills and employability. You will understand the importance of developing strategic relationships with business clients and with university careers and employment services and academic staff and have an empathy for supporting our candidates to fulfill their potential.  You may also have an interest in the key trends and issues influencing the business of recruitment.

You must have a good knowledge of IT including word and spreadsheets and CRMs.

We are looking for someone with strong written and verbal communication skills who can explain information in a clear and understandable way. You will be well organised and able to prioritise workloads on a short and long term basis.  You must be able to work effectively as part of a team and can work on your own initiative with minimal supervision.  You will have a friendly, approachable and helpful manner; and you will have a tactful and diplomatic approach, and able to maintain confidentiality.

Package: £26,000 – 28,500 pa (dependent on experience).  35 hour week, 25 days annual leave, plus public holidays, commission.  We would be happy to consider offering this role on a part time basis at a minimum of 27.5 hours per week.

We’re based in West Bridgford, just south of Nottingham city centre and service the needs of small, high growth business across the UK and in most sectors including Marketing, Engineering, Science, Manufacturing, IT and many others.

We generate our graduate candidates via a program of campus based activities, including attendance at fairs and delivery of presentations. Part of the Account Manager’s role will be to take part in these campus based activities, delivering presentations to student audiences. So you will need to be a confident and concise presenter.

Our face to face activities are supported by a strong presence on social media as well as through our blog. The whole team contributes to the content of this social media activity. So you will need to be an accurate and creative writer.

Account Managers generate their clients through business development activities. This includes networking at local events, visiting existing clients and of course, approaching new potential clients directly. This means that you will be required to make outbound calls to exciting companies and talk to them about our services. In order to do this you will need to be confident and organised in your approach. But you will also need to have an understanding of the graduate employability landscape.

 

Once we have brought our clients on board and generated our candidates, our role is to bring business and graduates together by providing exciting opportunities for graduates and undergraduates to gain real experience whilst delivering business critical projects.  This activity requires telephone interviewing skills, use of a CRM system, questioning and listening skills and the use of a bespoke database.
