Graduate Estimator- Construction / Business / Numerical graduates

Leicester  |  Permanent

Salary: £20,000-23,000

Ref: 6503

This business is Leicester based, and operates nationally, providing a specific service to the construction industry - mainly as part of big projects in both public and private sectors. For example, the building or renovation of a school, shopping centre, office block or hospital.

Graduates have a key role to play in the ongoing expansion of the business, and they are looking to add a Trainee Estimator to their team.

An Estimator is a role you may not be aware of; it can be described as being responsible for producing robust estimates which win work through bids and tenders, whilst minimising risk for the business.

There are a lot of different duties and responsibilities involved in the role, and we can discuss that in more depth, but essentially you will be involved in pricing up large projects, estimating the cost of time, money, materials, and labour, and creating budgets accordingly- mostly when up against competitors, who are also looking to win the business.

That’s a lot of responsibility, but don’t worry, you will not be thrown in at the deep end, this is a graduate role, and you will be mentored, trained and developed until you are at the stage where you are making these decisions yourself.

There may be some degree of flexibility with degree type, though something construction related would be ideal. Or perhaps numerical or business focused.

You will need to be confident in communicating with people, organised, determined, numerical and happy to take responsibility. The rest can be taught.

There are excellent long-term career prospects; earnings will rise in time and experienced estimators make very good money.
