Our client is an SME that has been established for over 20 years and provides professional environmental consultancy expertise in a number of areas to a variety of sectors around the UK and beyond. The Company prides itself on providing great career support to employees and high-quality environmentally-conscious solutions to blue-chip companies. The Company is looking to grow in expertise, size, and geographical range and is currently starting the implementation of an exciting business development programme.
The Company employs circa 20 specialist technical staff (including environmental consultants, landscape architects, ecologists, archaeologists, and planners) at its centrally-located office in the West Midlands providing a good team ethic and approach.
The graduate will provide GIS support to the various consultants, initially on a large project requiring substantial data preparation and organisation, with subsequent processing and presentation. The Company would like to explore the knowledge and ideas of the graduate to develop understanding, direction, and application of GIS techniques beyond current capabilities.
By the end of the internship, the graduate will have helped the company to become ever more efficient at what it does, through better utilisation of GIS techniques.
The graduate will gain exposure to a range of environmental disciplines working on live projects, understanding how to apply their knowledge to different practical situations developing their peripheral understanding of their work, whilst having an opportunity to demonstrate to the Company how their expertise can improve its overall service provision.
Applicants will have studied subjects which have developed a Geographical / cartographical understanding such as Geography, Earth Science, Environmental studies or other science subjects. You must have some experience of using GIS software either from practical work experience or from live university projects. Furthermore, applicants must have a good working knowledge of Excel and the ability to communicate confidently about environmental subjects.
