I was offered a 12 week placement in Chesterfield and though I was unsure about the location, I took the plunge! I was offered the post permanently and am one year on, I am still very happy.
The great thing about Step is you only have to submit your CV, then apply for positions that might interest you. No massive application forms asking you for your greatest achievements and the like. I was skeptical, as I had had no success with other "submit your CV" websites, but was pleasantly surprised. The range of positions on offer was quite amazing, especially since the recession was at it's peak.
I would definitely recommend Step to any graduate, as they advertise positions for smaller companies you might not find via a career's website. Working for a smaller company is very enjoyable and challenging, especially if you have had little work experience before. I felt like I was thrown in at the deep end and given responsibilities from the off. Many of my friends working at large engineering companies complain about the lack of change and the predictable day to day routine. I go into work every day never knowing quite what to expect - just the way it should be!
