Salary: £24,000 - 26,000
Ever thought about a career in Logistics / Shipping? Possibly not, but neither did many of those who have now developed successful careers in the industry. The industry is at the heart of much of what we do - many other businesses rely on it to import their raw materials and export their goods across the world.
The business is a key player in the industry- they use a global network of partners and a variety of methods to arrange transport of goods to the Americas from all parts of the World. This could be by air, sea or road. As dual recipients of the much coveted 'Queens Award' for Enterprise International Trade, the excellence of their service has been recognised. They have a unique ability to handle all forms of cargo and all aspects of their customers' shipments.
This is an opportunity to learn and embark on a career in a fast-moving entrepreneurial company. There will also be the potential to travel within the office network within the UK, and abroad in time.
The role will develop, and you will gain more responsibility with time, but essentially it will revolve around the logistics side of the business, with a bit of analysis of data. The aim is to help develop and increase business originating from the European network.
Some of the specifics include managing and updating rates and statistics; monitoring the performance of all European agents, setting and monitoring targets; and assisting with tenders. Don’t worry if you are not familiar with this at present, as full training is provided.
A Shipping / Logistics, Economics or Business related degree is preferred, together with some understanding of international trade. Good attention to detail, organisation, a pro-active approach is required, and you will need very strong MS Excel skills.
It’s not essential, but if you can speak another European language that would be a bonus, and you will get the opportunity to use it.
The office is based in Stansted, just off the M11 and commutable from areas including Stevenage, Harlow, Braintree, Chelmsford and Cambridge.
