Graduate Transport Planner (ideal if you like solving problems)

County Durham  |  Permanent

Salary: £19,000-20,000

Ref: 6599

Are you looking for a busy and challenging role, where you can use your problem solving skills? This role could be ideal

This business is a national wholesale supplier of a range of food items to household name supermarkets and food brands, the cash and carry industry, and small independent shopping outlets. They have multiple depots across the UK, and deliver across the country.

They are looking for a graduate  to join their central Transport Planning Team, which routes over 100 vehicles per day across the distribution sites.

You will be using your logical thinking skills to plan customer deliveries and supplier collections. This will include communicating with customers directly, to check delivery slot availability and book in times.

You will also be organising third-party hauliers and pallet deliveries as required.

You will often be up against tight deadlines so the routes are released to the warehouse in line the operational planning.

While some degrees may be more relevant than others, the most important thing is that you enjoy solving problems, have decent numerical skills, and enjoy speaking with a range of people- sometimes it won't be an easy conversation, for instance if a delivery driver calls and they are not sure they can get something done in time, you would talk them through it.

Some kind of customer related work experience is required.

Working hours are Monday - Friday 11am - 7pm; there may be occasional later finishes, or working on Sunday.

The role is based in a town near the A19, commutable from Sunderland, Durham and Hartlepool.
