Summer Internship - Alternative Investments

A proactive, personable and curious student or graduate is sought to join the small Alternative Investment team of a large pension fund. The aim of this internship is to give the intern a broad understanding of the strategies used to maximise return on investments in alternative funds including infrastructure, venture capital and creative hedge fund investments. 

On a day to day basis you will assist the Alternatives Team with the following objectives:

• Preparation of presentation materials, to include quarterly reporting to the CIO
• Attending internal investment meetings and maintaining minutes and action logs
• Attending external meetings with current and potential managers and preparing meeting notes
• Assistance with new investment proposals
• Assistance in monitoring existing investments
• Maintenance of online internal resources for the team
• Ad-hoc administrative tasks

Although no prior experience or specific knowledge of investments is required you must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in financial markets and investing. Commercially aware, you could be studying any degree discipline as long as you have strong excel and quantitative analysis skills. Your written skills must be accurate as you will be asked to write reports and compile presentations on powerpoint to be delivered at board level. You will be analytical, accurate, and detailed orientated in approach, a team player and comfortable multi-tasking. Above all, you must be willing to embrace your internship experience, learn from your colleagues and contribute to discussions.
