This business manufactures a range of product solutions that are used by a variety of customers for construction projects: ranging from homeowners who are building an extension, right up to Premiership football stadiums. They are looking for two graduates to join them.
It’s a hugely varied role, with 4 main aspects (and involvement with other areas as required):
· Day to day operations: answering technical queries about products from internal colleagues, and external customers. This is a great way to build up your product knowledge.
· Production support and low-level product development: for example, if there is an issue on the shop floor, helping to provide a technical solution, then putting a fix in place.
· Tooling: using new variants for standard products to match to designs- using CNC Router and CAD (some CAD knowledge is required, and training in the specifics for AutoCAD and Inventor will be provided).
· Designing drawings for customers to see what is proposed in terms of bespoke applications; the customer then signs this off so manufacturing can begin.
You will mainly be office based, but there will be travel to sites involved; initially you will be going out with someone, but at some point you will be doing this yourself so a driving licence or plans to learn are essential. The site visits can involve climbing on roofs, and interacting with construction trades (which can be challenging).
A Mechanical, Production, or Materials Engineering related degree is preferred, but other Engineering degrees may be considered if you fit the general profile, and have a construction and manufacturing interest. It’s important to be flexible, adaptable, keen to learn, and happy dealing with a variety of people.
The offices are based in Coventry, and are also commutable from areas east of Birmingham, and south of Leicester. Applicants who are a close match based on the key criteria will be contacted to discuss the role in more depth.
