Graduate CAD Technician

Salary: £22000 to £25000 per annum

This York based company are offering this highly visible and wide-ranging role and are looking for a graduate to join their team and progress through the company.  They are a world leader in design and manufacture within their chosen field.

Within this role you will:

  • Create accurate and detailed 3D models of components and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Create accurate and detailed component and assembly drawings using SolidWorks, for use in the Machine Shop, Production and external parties
  • Create accurate and detailed PCB drawings using AutoCAD and Altium, for use by internal and external PCB suppliers
  • Use ERP system to create accurate Part Master Templates (Routing and Bills of Materials etc.) and update Jobs (Active orders and Production Data)
  • Use change note system to review, action and complete PCRs for existing designs / drawings, and to manage Non-Conformances
  • Interpret and adhere to customer specifications / drawings, and ‘Design Output’ documents from Electrical Engineers
  • Work closely with the Electrical Engineers to realise designs across a variety of RF technologies
  • Work with the Sales department and Customers to create device outline drawings for quote purposes
  • Work with CAM / Machine Shop and Production departments to improve Design for Manufacture
  • Adhere to deadlines for completing all of the above
  • Maintain ‘Configuration Control Registers’ for parts
  • Liaise with, and support all other departments across the company where required
  • Engage and maintain efforts in Continuous Improvement, Kaizen and Interdepartmental meetings
  • Liaise with, and support, various suppliers and sub-contractors in sourcing components and new product development
  • Independently manage workloads, work priorities and conflicts
  • Be able to perform well under pressure

Skills / Experience:

  • 2D AutoCAD experience
  • Good knowledge of mechanical principles including knowledge of precision CNC machining practices
  • Experience working on highly integrated precision assemblies where an eye for detail is crucial
  • Competent with IT – e.g. Operating systems and Microsoft Office
  • Good communication at all levels both internally and externally, inc. customers, and suppliers
  • Good time-management skills
  • Proactive approach to problem solving, training and teamwork
  • Demonstrable learning from non-conformances
  • Systematic, organised, diligent and thorough
