Step is a trading name of Step Recruitment Ltd. This privacy statement explains how we use any personal information we collect about you.

What information do we collect about you?

Job Seekers / Candidates

We will ask for your name, postal address, email address, contact telephone number, course and place of study and employment history. Website information is collected using cookies. We will only collect personal information such as date of birth and National Insurance number and evidence of your right to work in the UK if you are successful in securing a job with Step. We will from time to time invite you to complete equality and diversity forms if required by our clients.

Clients / Customers / Companies / Suppliers / Universities

We will keep records of your contact form responses, questions, queries and any feedback that you leave, including your email address if you contact Step.

We will set up contact records (name, job title, company address, company email address, telephone contact details) on our CRM system. We will keep factual records of our business conversations and email correspondence.

How will we use the information about you?

Jobseekers / Candidates

The information you provide will be used to assess your suitability for the job you have applied for. If you have signed up with us so that we can offer you relevant work in the future, we will use the information to match you to positions by searching on your course of study and / or location. We will contact you by telephone or email using the details you have provided. Your address details will be used to allow us to conduct location searches so that we can tell you about jobs local to you.

Anonymised data will be used for reporting purposes which may then be used in our marketing. For example, we may send communication to businesses telling them that we have a certain number of marketing graduates registered with Step.

Your data will not be shared with anyone else (including the employer named on the advertisement if applicable) unless you give us permission to do so.

The details we store on our CRM system will allow us to stay in touch and keep you informed about developments in the graduate job market and ultimately, to enhance the business relationship which we develop with you as a customer or supplier.

Storing your data

The information we collect about you will be stored on a web-based database which will be accessible by employees of Step Recruitment Ltd. This database is managed by Fast Floor Multimedia Ltd whose employees have access to it, for the purposes of maintenance only.

Supplier and customer data will be kept on our accounting package for the purpose of conducting proper accounting procedures.

A log of email correspondence between Step and you will be kept on a computerised journal, attached to the data you have given us. Summaries of conversations which take place between you and employees of Step Recruitment Ltd, in the course of managing your job application or our business relationship will also be kept.

Marketing

Jobseekers / Candidates

We would like to send you information about internships, jobs and programmes which may suit your skills, educational background and experience. From time to time, a business or organisation we are working with, may ask us to contact you about work opportunities, on their behalf. If you have consented to receive this information, you may opt out at a later date.

Clients / Customers / Companies / Suppliers / Universities

From time to time we send newsletter content relating to the student and graduate job market. We will keep you informed of developments at Step and prompt you to consider whether it is the right time to bring in graduate level talent. We would hope that as a result of this you choose to work with us and engage our recruitment services. You can opt out of this at any time by emailing privacy@step.org.uk or responding to the link on the emails you receive

Access to your information and correction

We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You can log in to your profile at any time and amend or delete the data you have given us. Log in here. You can remove your account by clicking the button on the bottom right hand corner of your profile called “Remove Your Profile”.
