people who are disadvantaged by their socio-economic background, ethnic minorities and those with disabilities.

The programme offers 8-12 weeks placement opportunities, and you will receive a training bursary to cover your cost of living throughout the placement. The initiative of this programme is to open up heritage sector careers to audiences currently under-represented in the workforce.

About Historic England’s Emerging Talent Programme

Historic England is the public body that looks after England’s historic environment — helping people understand, value and protect the historic places that shape our national story.

Their Emerging Talent Placements launched in 2022 to help address the lack of diversity in the heritage sector and offer short-term work experience (6–12 weeks) for young people aged 18–30.

  • People from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds
  • Disabled people
  • Individuals who have experienced social and/or economic disadvantage

This programme is part of Historic England’s wider Future Talent strategy — a commitment to creating inclusive, skills-based career paths across the heritage sector.
