Usually such a task would require significant experience, but their Sales & Marketing Director specifically asked Step Recruitment for a graduate intern to look into potential new international markets. The brief was to review thriving global economies, then review the higher education markets in those economies and identify routes to market in those new areas. It was just a short term project for an intern, and was taken on by an International Business graduate named Toby Tetrault.
Having studied at the University of Nottingham, Toby also had a Masters degree in international Strategy and Governance, and delivered the new project so effectively that he was encouraged to explore other areas of the business. At the end of his internship, Toby was offered the position as the company’s permanent Marketing Communications Manager – a post created specifically for him.
The lateral thinking and innovation Toby brought to this new role ultimately resulted in the company being entered for and winning a prestigious business award. Today, Toby is the Head of Marketing & Technology at the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed (IPSE). His professional journey has been incredible so far, and it all began with a local engineering business giving an innovative young graduate the chance to show them what he could do.
