This growing Nottingham based engineering company are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their driven team. As a Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team, working on the design and development of bespoke automation and materials handling equipment. You’ll gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, from concept through to prototype and production, while learning from experienced engineers who are passionate about mentoring and development.

In this role, you’ll begin to apply your academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. You’ll be involved in designing mechanical systems using 3D CAD software (ideally SolidWorks), creating layout drawings, and supporting the development of pneumatic and hydraulic systems. You’ll also learn how to conduct fault finding and root cause analysis, assist in prototype builds, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our design processes.

Skills

We’re looking for someone with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, who is enthusiastic, curious, and ready to grow. Ideally, you’ll have some exposure to mechanical design through university projects, internships, or placements, and a basic understanding of manufacturing techniques such as milling, turning, and sheet metal fabrication. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and the ability to interpret technical documentation will also be beneficial.
