Lincolnshire | 200 hours | £12.71 per hour | Onsite
Start Date: November 2026
About the Business:
Househam Group Ltd is a leading UK agricultural engineering company specialising in the design and manufacture of advanced self-propelled crop sprayers and precision farming technology. Based in Lincolnshire, they develop innovative solutions that help growers improve efficiency, productivity and sustainability while working within a highly technical manufacturing environment. With a diverse product range, Househam Group can fulfill all individual spraying requirements to professional growers worldwide and are backed by an experienced service team always on hand to support farmers in the field.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a live R&D project while gaining hands-on experience in engineering design, simulation, CAD development and agricultural technology. The project’s aim is to develop and validate a new suspension system for a self-propelled crop sprayer using theoretical calculations, simulation modelling and 3D CAD design before physical prototyping.
About the Opportunity:
Working alongside the engineering team, you will support the development of a next-generation suspension system through a digital-first design approach. You will carry out engineering calculations, build and test simulation models using Simulink, analyse performance data, and develop a complete 3D CAD assembly.
This role is great opportunity for a student or recent graduate looking to apply their engineering knowledge to a real-world product development project within an innovative manufacturing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out theoretical suspension system calculations and mathematical modelling.
- Develop and test simulation models using Simulink.
- Analyse and compare theoretical and simulated performance data.
- Support the design and development of a complete 3D CAD assembly.
- Identify opportunities for design improvement and optimisation.
- Maintain technical documentation and engineering records.
- Attend project meetings and collaborate with the engineering team.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations outlining project findings and recommendations.
We welcome applications from students or recent graduates studying:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Automotive Engineering
- Agricultural Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Product Design Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
- Engineering Mathematics or Applied Mathematics
- Understanding of engineering principles and dynamics
- Knowledge of mathematical modelling and data analysis
- Experience using CAD software
- Interest in simulation and digital engineering tools
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
This internship offers hands-on experience in engineering design, simulation modelling, CAD development and agricultural technology, gaining exposure to industry-standard engineering tools and receiving direct mentoring from experienced engineers within the business.
You will be supported throughout the internship by the Engineering Manager and Head of Engineering and have access to Simulink, 3D CAD systems, technical documentation and engineering staff.
This internship can be completed full time (around 37.5 hours a week for 5-6 weeks) or can be part time around your studies (around 25 hours a week for 8 weeks)
