This growing Nottingham based engineering company are seeking a Design Engineer to join their Product Research & Development division. They are a technology focused business with big aspirations for the future and want someone who shares their passion for the industry.

As a Design Engineer within R&D you'll immerse yourself in new developments and CAD standardisation initiatives. Using AutoCAD and SolidWorks, you'll be developing their range of standard modules and expanding the CAD Library with innovative designs and new modules, readily available for all their future projects. Working closely with senior designers you'll create new 3D and 2D blocks, make necessary adjustments to modules, issue detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings and gradually transition into a full-fledged design role within R&D. With the aim for you to become a confident and self-reliant Design Engineer once you have gained experience and to be managing your own design projects.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the team to conceptualise and develop new modules and standard drawing blocks using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Supporting the development activities of the Standard CAD Library and individual drawing blocks.
  • Supporting the development of instruction packs for how-to-use Standard CAD, for the rest of the CAD users.
  • Utilise new and pre-designed modules to expand and optimise the range, while also adjusting and modifying components to meet performance and quality specifications.
  • Shadow senior designers initially, progressively taking ownership of design and modification tasks.
  • Engage in new product development initiatives, as you gain more experience
  • Requirements:
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, with a keen interest in mechanical engineering.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related subject.
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
  • Confidence discussing and presenting technical ideas and proposals.
