This is a unique opportunity to join a company that designs, manufactures, and installs capital equipment for the Advanced Materials industry, ranging from small R&D systems for universities and institutions, through to large scale industrial production units for corporate enterprises across the globe.

Within the role, you will build a fundamental understanding of novel engineering processes and materials. Then, that understanding will be applied to the design, building, installation and testing phases, working closely with the design and production teams. The process/materials data is compiled and critically analysed to guarantee high performance and minimal costs, and process models will be produced. As part of the role, you have the opportunity to become a subject matter expert on emerging technology areas.

Ideally, you will have a qualification in a relevant subject such as material science, metallurgy, physics, chemical engineering, or physical chemistry. As you may represent the company at different conferences, meetings and exhibitions, the ability to use interpersonal skills and develop working relationships will be incredibly valuable.
 
Essential Skills:
  • Qualification or experience in a relevant subject – Ideally Material Science or Metallurgy, Physics, Chemical Engineering or Physical Chemistry will also be considered.
  • Experience working in areas such as physics, materials engineering, computational modelling, fluid mechanics, thermofluids, metallurgy, or vacuum induction heating.
  • Must be seeking a long-term role in a growing Commercial / R&D environment.
  • Interpersonal skills to facilitate working relationships with suppliers, funding bodies, customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to work consistently under times of pressure.
  • Self-motivated, with the drive to achieve excellence.
  • Full UK Driving License and ability to travel globally.
 
About
This role is based in East Sussex but may include occasional travel both in the UK and overseas. They also provide private health insurance, and in your first year, 22 days + bank holidays, going up to 25 days in your second year.
