The Opportunity We are offering an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented student to join as a CAD Technician Intern. This role will support key engineering change and documentation processes, working closely with Production Engineering, R&D, Quality and Manufacturing teams.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a highly technical manufacturing environment, contributing to real engineering projects and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Update and modify technical drawings in line with engineering change controls (including single and multi-level BOMs)
  • Review and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accuracy and consistency
  • Update or create 3D models and 2D assembly drawings using SolidWorks to support SOPs and production documentation
  • Ensure assembly drawings align with controlled product drawings and follow correct revision processes
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies in drawings, SOPs and production practices
  • Produce clear technical visualisations to support work instructions and documentation
  • Maintain drawing revision control and documentation integrity
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across design, documentation and manufacturing processes
Skills & Experience
  • Studying a degree in Engineering, Product Design or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (assemblies, configurations and drawing generation)
  • Understanding of manufacturing or process engineering environments
  • Experience creating 3D models, 2D drawings and technical documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Confidence interpreting and communicating technical information
  • Familiarity with document control systems (e.g. PDM) is advantageous
  • Technical writing experience (e.g. SOPs or test protocols) is desirable

This role is office-based in Orpington, Kent, so the ability to commute is essential.
