About the Company
GeoAcoustics is a global leader in the design and manufacture of advanced underwater acoustic technologies, supporting marine survey, offshore and environmental applications worldwide. With over 40 years of experience, the company develops innovative sonar systems used for seabed mapping, infrastructure inspection, and marine research.

Operating from its UK headquarters and supported by an international partner network, GeoAcoustics combines cutting-edge technology with practical, real-world applications in challenging environments.

About the Opportunity
This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to real digital improvement projects within an innovative engineering and manufacturing SME. You'll gain practical experience in process mapping, data management and business transformation, working closely with stakeholders across the business.

The role is designed to balance hands-on analysis with strategic thinking, giving you exposure to how a manufacturing business manages data, customers and product lifecycle information.

The Role
You will support two key business improvement projects:
Project 1: Customer Journey & Data Integration
Currently, customer information is stored across multiple systems and shared drives, with heavy reliance on email communication.
You will:
  • Map the current end-to-end customer journey (from initial enquiry to aftersales support)
  • Engage with internal teams to understand existing processes and challenges
  • Identify gaps where data is duplicated, siloed or not utilised effectively
  • Propose a more integrated, cloud-first approach to managing customer data
  • Explore how Microsoft cloud tools could support a centralised customer repository
Project 2: Equipment Data & Lifecycle Tracking
Records of manufactured equipment are currently stored across Excel files and linked folders, making it difficult to track product history and performance over time.
You will:
  • Review how product and equipment records are currently structured and stored
  • Design a central master log or database of all manufactured equipment
  • Develop a system that enables records to be queried by customer, product model or version
  • Explore ways to link manufacturing data with service/support records
  • Help create a solution that supports improved reporting, traceability and trend analysis
About You
We are looking for a motivated and curious individual who wants to make a tangible impact with an interest in data, systems and digital transformation. Relevant disciplines include Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, AI and Business Management and Operations. Other degree disciplines with a strong data focus will also be considered.

You'll ideally have:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • An interest in improving processes and systems
  • Confidence communicating with a range of stakeholders
  • Experience using Excel (knowledge of databases or Microsoft cloud tools is a bonus)
  • A proactive, self-starting attitude
The internship is due to start in August 2026 for 225 hours which can be completed full time or part time around your studies.
